At Whitfords we make highly-informed decisions, take responsibility for them and communicate them clearly and with complete transparency. This means interacting with manufacturers and distributors and gathering written evidence about their ingredients.

In turn, this allows you to choose products that work and reflect your individual values.

All our ingredients are vegan. We believe that beauty products should be cruelty free. We are proud to be Leaping Bunny approved. A global programme, Leaping Bunny requires cruelty free standards over and above legal requirements. All of our own brand cosmetic and personal care products are approved under the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny programme, the internationally recognisable gold standard for cruelty free products.

We adhere to a fixed cut-off date policy and proactively monitor our suppliers to ensure that our products continue to adhere to the Leaping Bunny criteria. Our supplier monitoring system is also independently audited. For more information about Cruelty Free International, Leaping Bunny and Leaping Bunny criteria, please visit

It is hard to take every single ingredient and put it under the magnifying glass, but we have tried to do just that and it is our ongoing commitment to regularly review our formulas.

Below is a description of each ingredient used at Whitfords, its provenance in nature, extraction methods and benefits for the skin. This is a work in progress and some ingredients have more information than others at present:

Virola Surinamensis (Ucuuba) Seed Butter

Virola Surinamensis (Ucuuba) Seed Butter. Cold pressed from the seeds of Virola Surinamensis, Myristicaceae, which is native to Central and South America. This butter is rich in oleic, palmitic, stearic, and linoleic acids and aids in water retention in the skin, making it perfect for dry skin. It helps restore elasticity.
